Chalk Up More Customers With Winning Subject Lines

It’s already been proven that with the right tools and the right approach, email marketing can still work for you and your company or website. Now it’s time for you to take a deeper look at what’s written in your email’s subject line. An email’s subject line by definition is the area allotted for the email sender to place the topic of the email. But that’s the traditional definition for the subject line. In today’s setting the subject line can be anything from the first line of your sales pitch, to a question, to the opening line of a very long formula. It can be a different thing for every person. But you are a real estate professional and so you have to stick to the original use of the subject line.

There are some marketing experts who are adamant in rewriting the fundamentals of the subject line for emails to clients and prospects. These experts believe that just like email marketing itself, a little change in how things are done and written can bring about better sales and revenue for you and your company. But before discussing the changes you might want to consider, let us discuss the reason you might want to evolve. In a way, the subject line on your email acts as the aroma or the bait for the customers just like a freshly baked pie. Once you take a whiff of the smell of the pie cooling out the window, your brain begins to look for the pie and you follow the smell until you arrive at the location. Similarly setting up or writing up a good subject line can definitely reel in more customers than what you previously thought of.

Here are some pointers you might want to consider when revising your strategy in writing those subject lines for your email (originally lifted from Skadeedle.com).1

  • Avoid using symbols; you are not in highschool anymore.
  • Try adding in the recipient’s first name to add a sense of personalization.
  • Try to maximize on the location if you are marketing a local property. This can be done by continually using promoting an area-exclusive offer to help make the local buyers know that there is something to look for in their area.
  • Key in on words and symbols like “%” and “Free”

Feel free to experiment on other things that you might have noticed with your marketing. What’s important is that you change the usual subject line the next time that you send out email marketing materials.
