Updating Your Email Marketing for Gmail Updates
Google Mail, or more popularly known as Gmail, has made significant changes to the user interface. The email service now boasts of an automatic filter which segregates mail into three categories. Newsletters will be sent over to the “Promotions” tab, social media notifications will be classified as “Social”, while email sent by verified Google and emails from your contacts list will be categorized in the “Primary” tab accounts. This could be bad news as your mail will no longer be seen in the main inbox and will instead be sent to the “Promotions” tab.
The good news here is that there is still a remedy that can be applied and that is to make the necessary adjustments on your Gmail settings. In your own Gmail account you can simply drag the email messages you are familiar with receiving into the “Primary” tab. You will know that you did the right thing when a pop up message appears.
If you want to return to the original setting then you can go over to the “Settings” box found in the upper right hand corner of the inbox. Click on the cog and click on “Configure Inbox”. When you do click on the inbox a pop-up window will appear. Just choose which tabs you would like to retain or remove and then you’re done.
Configuring is the easy part while informing can be a challenge. There are a dozen or so different ways with which you can inform your clients and prospects of these upcoming changes for Gmail.
