Real Estate Marketers Need Meditation in Their Lives, Too

By Agent Image / Updated February 21, 2018 / Published July 14, 2014 / 5 min read

Being in the real estate business is challenging work. You deal with clients from different backgrounds, addressing different demands, and working to meet different standards. When this is becomes the standard routine, reaching a breaking point is inevitable – your exhaustion and burnout will sap you of your drive, momentum, and confidence. Worse, it could lead to serious health problems when left unchecked.

Lucky for us in this dynamic and fast-paced industry, there are simple ways to prevent burning out and breaking down. One of the easiest and most accessible among them is the practice of meditation.

You are your own main motivation

Meditation is all about acknowledging yourself – every aspect of it, in fact. So before we dive into some useful tips on how to meditate despite your hectic real estate professional’s schedule, we need to remember and emphasize this crucial point: You are doing this for yourself and not for anybody else.

Granted, we here in this business tend to be all about sacrificing and giving our 110% for the sake of delivering top-notch service. So if you’re having trouble getting over that to give yourself a much-needed and well-deserved break, consider this: workplace stress costs businesses across the United States lose up to $300 billion annually. Whether you’re overextending yourself because you aim to deliver results for your boss, or you’re the boss who needs to keep overextending yourself, consider how your stress levels can really affect your bottom line.

Meditation in today’s tech-driven world

Do you feel that being in a hustling and bustling job keeps you from finding the right time and space to successfully meditate? We beg to differ.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re at home, at work, or on-the-go. You can easily work meditation into your daily routine with the right tools – most of which we now have thanks to our digital technology-savvy lifestyles.

  1. Cut that noise. Silence and peacefulness are crucial ingredients of the meditation process. You probably already have a useful accessory for your sessions: your noise-cancelling headphones. If you don’t already have a set, consider its advantages for meditation another reason to score one.
  2. There’s an app for that. Can’t put down that phone beyond your arm’s reach? Then make good use of it for your relaxation needs, too. It’s now very easy to find apps specifically designed to aid the meditative process. From full-featured guided meditation apps like Headspace, to simpler, dedicated breathing guide apps, you’ll find no shortage of options to help you start that new, healthy habit.
  3. Stream your way into the zone. Soothing music works wonders when trying to slow down and gather oneself. If you think your playlist is overloaded with bass-thumping, high-energy beats, fire up Spotify or YouTube to search for tracks and playlists ideal to calm your nerves and help you find your most Zen-like state.

Meditation is the key to thinking better, performing better, and eventually reaching your goals. It’s never too late to start getting into the habit of meditating. Try it out now and feel just how awesome it is to work again after a bit of quiet time.
