3 Reasons Why Real Estate Website Maintenance is Essentially Similar to Car Maintenance

By Agent Image / Updated August 14, 2024 / Published September 24, 2014 / 4 min read

We all love our cars; it’s an important facet of our lives, and more importantly it gives us convenience to travel where we need to go and security for getting us to our destinations safely. To achieve that safety and convenience though, our cars need to undergo regular maintenance to ensure that things run smoothly to prevent any accidents while driving.

Here are 5 solid, sturdy reasons why you should treat the maintenance of your real estate website much like you would do your car:

  1. A Clear Path to Your Intended Destination (aka. Goal)
You’ve already spent hundreds of dollars on creating a great looking website, but you’ll need more than just that in order for the property you are selling to get attention. You need to set up a clear path for it to work and for that to happen you also need to maintain the worthiness of your real estate website. And in case you’re wondering what you need to get this ticked off your to-do-list, you might want to look into things like clear navigation links, titles, tags, sufficient clear photos and/or videos and website promotion within your social media pages.
  2. Removing Congestion and Clogs
Indexing your posts and pages is a good thing to keep your website’s performance at an optimum level. It’s practically the same thing as getting an oil change or pouring various fluids into the engine block to remove clogging. We highly suggest that you take some time from your busy schedule to start de-indexing pages or posts that will not require any crawls from search engines. This keeps everything streamlined for visitors.
  3. Adding the Additives In
Both website maintenance and car maintenance requires the inclusion of additives in order for both to work in it’s best condition. In a car, additives can include brake fluid or air-conditioning additives. In website maintenance, this relates to the software and online tools like Google Webmaster Tool and more. This will help you figure out what needs to be fixed, what needs to replaced and what you need to look out for because it might conk out. Speaking of conking out, preventive maintenance can help significantly improve your rankings against your competitors so that your listings and website can get the exposure it needs.

Website maintenance as well as well-designed websites is what Agent Image is all about. If you need some help with updating your existing website, give us a call at 1.877.317.4111.
