Email Marketing for Realtors: 5 List Management Tips

By Agent Image / Updated July 14, 2016 / Published January 29, 2013 / 2 min read

An actively managed contacts list is essential to the success of any email marketing campaign. A clean list of fully engaged recipients is the ideal scenario you'll want to have and here are a few things to take into consideration to help bring that about:

  • Do you have permission from everyone on your list? The one thing you must never do is to buy or rent a list from any third party. Everyone should be there because they opted in.
  • Remind your recipients how they got on your list. It's not unusual for people to forget that they signed up for something and why they did. Including a brief reminder in your email copy will update them and prevent your email from getting flagged as spam.
  • Offer subscription options, especially if you provide frequent updates. This way you can specifically target groups and individuals and it will help you keep a wider base of recipients engaged.
  • Make sure your e-mails comply with CAN-SPAM. This means that you must always include your company's physical address as well as a clear sender. You should always include a clear opt-out/unsubscribe option as well.
  • Keep an eye on your bounce rate. Too many bounces can get your mail tagged as spam.
  • Don't forget to do some housecleaning from time to time.
