Major Changes in Google Authorship and Why You Shouldn’t Panic

By Agent Image / Updated July 14, 2016 / Published August 20, 2014 / 4 min read

Since Google Authorship has been released, it has become a key implementation factor in raising awareness towards a brand or key figure. Real estate brokers and agents working on their websites know for a fact how powerful the Google Authorship system works. Sadly, Google has made significant changes to Google Authorship which has caused a significant drop on the clicks that should have been given to an author’s website or article.

The two biggest changes that have been made to Google’s Authorship program was the removal of the thumbnail photo taken from their Google+ profile as well as the “circles” count in the post. Sure it might seem small and trivial but these two factors of Google Authorship really made wonders for the active people using Internet Marketing or social media marketing effectively and consistently. Taking the prominence of Authorship out is like removing the two legs of a perfectly working table or chair. The reason for the removal was due to Google’s continuous upgrades on their performance for other devices including smartphones. Removing the two aforementioned items helped streamline what Google search results would look like across the board.

Around this time you might have probably worked with Google Authorship and may even have reaped the benefits. With the new changes you might ask yourself, “Is this even worth it?” The answer to that question is yes, Google Authorship is still worth a shot. Here are some things that you might want to ponder on with regards to Authorship despite the massive changes done to it.

  • The algorithm about having quality content is still prevalent which means you still need to produce engaging blog posts to get a good spot in the search engine rankings. The surface might have undergone significant changes but all the important factors are still being followed.
  • You’ll still need the Google Authorship connection because the byline underneath the title will still lead people to your Google profile page.
  • While Google Authorship might not have your profile photo anymore it still has a link to your actual profile including maps. This is still great for real estate marketers who have business in a specific location or area.

There’s a whole lot more of things that you can do with Google Authorship. The combination is an endless possibility and that means that you still have a good chance of making it big despite the wave of opposition and competition. Let Agent Image help you in every step of the way with implementing Google Authorship. Send us an email for your free consultation at [email protected] and we can get you started.
