Real Estate Marketer’s Guide to Overcoming Self-Doubt
Self-doubt is a very terrible thing for everybody including individuals who are working in the field of real estate marketing. Try as we may to avoid it, it’s natural that we feel this way because of our affinity towards rationalizing things. It’s also a very natural occurrence to have these feelings whenever we are looking towards doing something that we haven’t done before. In the case of a real estate agent it could be meeting a very important buyer or client, finding new clients or handling problems related to competition.
Here’s a list of some easy things that you can do to avoid caving in from self-doubt and anxiety. These have been tested and proven not just by other real estate marketing specialists, but even those outside the industry. 1. Write a Letter to Yourself – Experts agree that there are times when the only person you need when in doubt is yourself. Nobody knows you better than you. That principle can be followed when writing a letter to yourself. Write motivational things that only you understand. Give yourself words of encouragement. That alone can do wonders to boost morale.

2. Remind Yourself of Accomplishments – There’s a certain wave of happiness and self-confidence that comes into play whenever we see trophies, plaques or anything that will recognize you as a person; more so if it’s recognition for outstanding work or achievements. It would do you well to keep some hanging around in your office or your workstation.

3. Create a Positive Paradigm Shift – Behaviorists and psychiatrists believe that you can be done with self-doubt easily if you stop fighting it. Much like quicksand, the more you resist and move against it, the deeper you go. Rather try to stay calm and envision your problems and all the negativity that plagues you as nothing more than clouds. A more specific picture that you could run in your mind are clouds that are passing by. Have this mental image run throughout the day and this will lift the dark cloud. Life will always have its sunny days and its stormy days. Practicing this cloud technique will help you to realize that “this too will pass” and you can overcome anything as long as you stay positive.

4. Listen to Music – Music is the universal language. Listening to music can help you overcome self-doubt and improve your mood. Create a playlist loaded up with all your favorite songs, or as an alternative, a playlist that contains relaxing music.
