Should You Rely on Google+ for Rankings?

There's a common notion that utilizing Google+ for your website and other social media activity will bring you good fortune. This notion is similar to believing that coming across a black cat while walking will give you bad luck. It's ridiculous and totally unfounded, not to mention unfair for black cats everywhere in the world. The truth is Google Plus and all the +1s are great for social media exposure, particularly for real estate websites and real estate marketers. But just know, using Google+ will not necessarily improve your rankings that easily.

Just like all things related to social media, Google+ can both be a bane and a boon depending on how it is used and depending on your focus for using it. The Google +1s you have received for posting a particular image or link will definitely drive in incoming traffic. If your goal is to simply drive in traffic and have them wander aimlessly on your website then you can definitely rely on Google+ to give that to you. However, if you are looking to improve your impressions on a specific landing page, like a new property that you are selling, then Google+ cannot help you on its own. This is because it's more effective to combine the help of other Google products like, Google Maps, plus the strength of social networks like Yelp, Facebook and Twitter.

So in a nutshell, Google+ is a good source of traffic especially if you have a great number of followers, but if you put all your eggs into this basket, you will most likely lose them. However, if you work smart and utilize all the power that Google+ can give your real estate website, then you can increase your chances of site ranking and ranking high for your specific location.
