The SEO Terms You Really Need to Dominate the Real Estate Market
Real estate marketers know SEO (Search Engine Optimization) but never fully understand the jargons that are usually tossed around in conversations. Don’t worry, it’s perfectly OK to not “get” the terms. No points lost for that. After all, the realm of internet marketing including SEO can be new territory for some real estate marketers. Years ago, just putting out a website would lead to new sales. These days, it’s not enough to have a really beautiful website.
That being said, allow us to list a couple of SEO terms that you can familiarize yourself with during your free time.
- SEO – Search Engine Optimization refers to the manipulation and strategizing of a website and other elements to help improve a website’s chances of being seen or getting referenced by Google or any other search engines.
- Title Tags - Title tags are basically the titles that appear on the browser tabs in your mobile phone or desktop computer. The primary function of title tags is to tell search engines what what’s supposed to be inside the page; much like how a book’s title gives us a clue as to what a book contains.
- Meta Description – the meta description’s primary role is to give further information as to what the page or the post contains. It’s basically a blurb or ad-copy as other industries refer to. This is the second thing that search engines look at when they scan a web page. It’s also a back up to the title tag.
- SERP – or Search Engine Results Page. This the results page of search engines in a nutshell. It’s the end result of typing your query on a Google search bar on your browser. If you rank as the first for a keyword, you can find your real estate website in the first half of the SERP.
- Keywords – the term ‘keyword’ is by far the most common term used in SEO. It refers to the words that will be used to boost or increase a website or a page’s standing in the search engines. This can also mean the words that are being chosen by Internet users whenever they go online and use search engines to find the information they’re looking for.
- Link – links come in two when talking about SEO. Internal links refer to the exchange happening between two pages within a single website. In your real estate website or blog it could happen between your home page and your gallery page through a link marked as “Gallery”. An external link is one where two websites pass information from one another. A good example is having your main website link up to another bigger website or a website that belongs to your friend selling properties halfway across America.
